FAQs
Ammunition
What ammunition should I use for my pistol?
We recommend using good quality American factory manufactured ammunition for your 2011® pistol.
** We DO NOT recommend the use of steel cased ammunition.
What ammo pressure levels can I run through my Staccato 2011®?
Standard pressure level and +P rated ammunition.
** DO NOT use +P+ rated ammunition
Can I use semi-wadcutters in my Staccato 2011®?
No, the bullet profile will not work with the Wilson/Nowlin barrel ramp.
Cleaning & Lubrication
Can I use an ultrasonic cleaner for my pistol?
We strongly do not recommend using an ultrasonic cleaner as it may damage any type of finish on the Staccato pistol.
Competition
Which pistol can I use for competitions?
USPSA
- Any of our 9MM, Iron Sight, Non-Compensated pistols can be used in Limited or Limited 10 in minor power factor
– Not ideal but is “legal” - The Staccato XL in 40S&W is ideal for use in Limited and Limited 10 Division
- The Staccato XC would be legal for use in Open Division, but it is not ideal since it is designed for minor power factor
-You can shoot major power factor out of it, but it is not ideal because the comp is not designed to dissipate the level of energy that is produced by major power factor.
IDPA
- We make bull barreled guns, and IDPA only allows bull barrels in 4.25″, which would make the C2 and 4.15″ P legal for CCP (Concealed Carry Pistol). However, due to the width of the safeties, they do not fit the box and are not legal for use.
- We do have other models that might work, but they do not “fit in the box” because our ambidextrous safeties are too wide.
Multi-Gun
- All of our iron sight products are legal for use in all divisions, and since there is no power factor, they would be ideal based on the needs of the shooter.
- If the gun is optic ready and has an optic on the gun, it would only be legal for use in Open Division.
- The Staccato XL is ideal for use in the Multi-Gun Open Division because of its ability to fit into a standard duty holster with retention, which is the preferred setup for Multi-Gun.
- Champion Open 3 Gunner Josh Froelich uses a Staccato XC and dominates the sport with it
Steel Challenge
- All of our iron sight guns are legal for use in Steel Challenge, and since there is no power factor, they can be used on the needs of the shooter.
- The ideal Iron Sight steel gun would be the Staccato XL
- In the Open Division of Steel Challenge, the Staccato XC would be ideal in 9MM.
- You can also use any of our optic-ready products that are fitted with an optic
Tactical Games
- All of our iron sight guns without a compensator are legal for use in Tactical Games.
- The ideal gun for Tactical Games would be a Staccato XL or Staccato P.
- 4-time TG Elite Champion, Jared Halbert, uses a Staccato XL.
** Please note that competition rules are subject to change, and for any questions, you will need to consult the governing organization of the particular competition.
Grips
How many types of grips has Staccato 2011® produced?
Generation 1 (STI)

Generation 2 (Staccato)

Gunsmithing & Modifications
Can I get an extended slide stop for my Staccato 2011® pistol?
Extended slide stops from companies like “Wilson” will work but need to be cut to clear the frame because they do not drop in.
We recommend using a qualified gunsmith to fit this.

If I purchase other sights, can I send those with the pistol to have Staccato put them on?
We do not offer any gunsmithing services.
What does it mean to co-witness my optic/electronic sight?
When you line up your rear and front sight, you then adjust your dot or reticle to line up with the front and rear sights.
**Please note that this answer is the basic concept of what co-witnessing is. There are many videos and articles available online that go into much more depth about this subject.
Why do I want to co-witness my optic/electronic sight?
The biggest advantage of a co-witness set up is that if your electronic sight or optic fails, your iron sights are still available.

Does Staccato use absolute co-witness?
Staccato sights with optics are set up with a 1/3 lower co-witness.
Do all electronic sights co-witness?
No. It depends on the dimensions of the electronic sight and the iron sights.
The electronic sights listed with our pistol specs are set up for 1/3 lower co-witness.
What is optic-ready?
Optic-Ready is the Dawson Universal Optic, which is the plate used to mount an optic to a Staccato pistol slide.
The optic-ready system replaced the HOST system for all optics capable pistols manufactured in 2019 and later.
Can I mount other manufacturer’s optic plates to a Staccato optic-ready capable pistol?
No. The optic-ready mounting system is a proprietary design to Staccato pistols.
What if I want to use an optic that is not listed on your website?
If the manufacturer of the optic claims that it has the same mounting pattern as the optics in our chart, it should be fine BUT PLEASE NOTE:
* Staccato cannot guarantee the fit or co-witness of any optics that are not in the list below.
* Staccato will not modify any optic-ready plates for optics that the manufacturer claims will fit in place of the optics listed below.
If the optic does not have the same mounting pattern as the optics listed below, Staccato does not offer any other optic-ready plates.
Does Staccato have a recommended optic I should use?
Staccato does not endorse or recommend a specific brand or model of optic.
We do recommend using American-made optics.
Please note, in the above chart, which optics are listed for the Staccato optic-ready system.
As an example, the US Marshalls SOG team use the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro.
Many of these optics are used by law enforcement and we do know that there has been extensive testing with the DeltaPoint Pro and the RMR/SRO series optics.
The optic-ready plate used on the C & C2 optic-ready will fit on the Staccato P optic-ready and XC.
Make sure that you use the correct front sight if you switch the Compact optic-ready plate to the Full optic-ready plate.

Specifications
The extractor seems to have loose movement up and down, and I’m wondering if this is normal or do I need a new extractor?
The extractor has a very slight up and down movement because the extractor needs the ability to flex and move to maintain proper tension and feeding.
How do I check my extractor tension?
Take the slide off the frame, remove your recoil system and barrel. Take a round and slide it under the extractor, it should slide in against the breach face with some resistance but, have enough pressure to hold it in the slide on its own.

Can I use a “shock buff” with my Staccato 2011® Pistol?
Do not use these with any Staccato 2011® pistols

I saw a 2011 Marauder that was a Shot Show special in FDE (Flat Dark Earth Color), and I would like to refinish my pistol in this color. What is the color spec?
That is the Cerakote GEN II Coyote Tan (Item #: HIR-235)
Here is the link to their site.
What makes the difference in price so great between the XC / XL pistols and the other models?
The XL and XC are competition ready. Although the XC is being carried by police officers, both guns are built with the intent to compete out of the box.
These contrast from the duty nature of the P and C2 which are more base line offerings that can have additions like optic cuts and magwells added.
The XC:
*Compensator Island Barrel
* Dawson Universal Optic cut
* Slide lighting cuts
*Magwell
* Average of 2.5lb. trigger pull
* Limited production
The XL:
* Slide lighting cuts
* 5.4’’ Slide
* 5.4” barrel
* Adjustable rear target sight
* Magwell
* Average of 2.5lb. trigger pull
* Finish options (hard chrome) and DLC barrel
* Limited production
