Cleaning and Lubrication

This video reviews proper lubrication of your Staccato 2011 pistol including lubrication points and application techniques.

Cleaning and Lubrication

Properly lubricating your 2011 (or any firearm, for that matter) is an important part of maintenance that ensures your pistol continues to run smoothly. While we don’t recommend or endorse any specific lubricant, Staccato cleaning kits contain Shooter’s Choice FP-10 CLP, as shown in the included video. Lubricating your 2011 is a simple procedure that does not even require disassembly. Follow along in the embedded video, or with these step-by-step instructions:

  1. Ensure your firearm is unloaded.
  2. Lock the slide to the rear.
  3. Apply a long bead of lubricant across the top half of the barrel, just behind the muzzle.
  4. Apply a small amount of additional lube to the top of the recoil guide rod, also just behind the muzzle.
  5. Rack the slide several times to spread lubricant across all contact surfaces.
  6. Release the slide so that it is fully forward.
  7. Apply lubricant around the edges of the barrel hood – this is the part of the barrel exposed by where the slide is cut out for the ejection port.
  8. Lock the slide to the rear once more, flip the gun over, and apply lube to the rear of each slide rail and the disconnector rail – the flat rectangular ledge that runs down the middle of the underside of the slide.
  9. Turn the gun right-side-up and rack the slide several more times.
  10. Slide the thumb safety lever into the “up” position and apply a small drop of lube into the thumb safety groove on either side of the frame.
  11. Activate and de-activate the thumb safety levers several times.
  12. Once lubrication is complete, rack the slide 3-5 more times to work all the lubricant into the contact surfaces, and dry-fire/functions check your pistol in a safe direction.

That’s it! Now your 2011 is ready to provide you reliable, accurate performance for thousands more rounds.

HELPFUL HINTS:

  • General best practices suggest you should re-lubricate the internals every 1,000 – 2,000 rounds, but this is not a hard-and-fast rule or required maintenance guideline.
  • Once internal lubrication is complete, we also recommend you apply a few drops of lubricant onto a cleaning patch or small cloth and wipe down any areas of the frame or slide that appear dry or discolored. Allow the oil to soak in for at least 30 minutes, then wipe off any excess with a dry cloth or patch.
  • Don’t forget that you can always purchase a Staccato cleaning kit directly from our web store, and don’t hesitate to reach out to our Customer Experience Team if you have any questions.
