Max Michel is one of the most decorated and influential competitive shooters in the world. Born on December 15, 1981, in New Orleans, Louisiana, he began competing at just nine years old when his father introduced him to Practical Shooting. His early talent propelled him to the top of the junior ranks, breaking national records and earning him a coveted position with the elite U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit. Michel spent 10 years on active duty, serving as a Staff Sergeant, Military Coach of the Action Pistol Team, and a key trainer responsible for elevating combat readiness for soldiers deployed in the Global Way on Terrorism.

Max's Journey
After his military career, Michel went on to dominate the competitive shooting world, becoming theIPSC XCII World Champion, a seven-time World Speed Shooting Champion, seven-time U.S. Steel National Champion, 13-time USPSA National Champion, five-time IPSC National Champion, Guinness World Record holder, and winner of more than 300 major championship titles. He has represented the United States in eight consecutive IPSC World Shoots-bringing home team gold each time-and remains one of the fastest, most consistent, and most respected shooters in the sport's history.
Michel spent nearly two decades as Team Captain for SIG SAUER, where he helped drive competitive shooting strategy, product development, shooter mentorship, and elite instruction at the SIG SAUER Academy. Today, he enters a dynamic new chapter as Staccato's Vice President of Training, Marketing, and Brand Ambassadorship, where he leads national training initiatives, strengthens brand growth, and represents Staccato across the shooting, law enforcement, and military communities. Through his championship pedigree, instructional expertise, and leadership impact, Max Michel continues to shape and elevate the future of modern handgun performance worldwide.
